An Independence Day celebration will be held in Medicine Park on July 4th with an old-fashioned picnic at the ballpark, games, music and a fireworks display at 9:00 pm. The festivities will continue July 5-6 as the city celebrates their Centennial with an ice-cream social, contests, music, theatrical performances and more. The community is invited to attend.
Carnegie will have a "Fabulous Fourth" celebration, beginning at 6:00 pm, at the corner of Oklahoma 9 and Oklahoma 58. The event will include a variety of entertainment including inflatable toys, face painting, sack races, a bungee run, and a treasure hunt. Those attending can also participate in a co-ed volley ball tournament and a horseshoe tournament. Food booths and a concession stand will be available for those attending and the celebration will end with a fireworks display after dark.
The Walters Chamber of Commerce will sponsor an Independence Day Celebration beginning with a softball tournament at 8:00 am at the Sultan and Youth Parks. The afternoon activities, held at Sultan Park, will include games, prize give-a-ways, a queen and princess contest, and a fireworks display.
"Freedom Fest 2008" will be held July 4 at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls. The festivities will begin at 3:30 pm with food, games and entertainment. "Tops in Blue" will perform at 8:00 pm; and the fireworks show will begin at 10:00 pm. The public is invited to attend. (Vehicles must enter through the Hospital Gate at 9th Avenue)
The First United Methodist Church, 2300 Country Club Road, in Duncan will host a Fourth of July Celebration beginning at 7:30 pm, on the grounds of the church.
